This January, fourteen education support workers from Powell River embarked on an exciting journey to become teachers through SFU's Professional Linking Program (PLP).

Said Maureen Mason, a Faculty Associate with the Powell River cohort, "it is not always possible to do a 12-month program in the Lower Mainland. With PLP, students stay in Powell River and continue to work in their current positions for all but 12 weeks of practicum near the end of the program...".

The PLP is a unique teacher education program deisgned to build on the strengths of working professionals while helping them build future careers as teachers.
