Admissions - Professional Development Program (PDP)
The Professional Development Program (PDP) at SFU is a full-time, three semester program that comprises twelve months of study. The program is made up of a combination of practicum experiences and professional coursework integral to the understanding of important educational ideas and their application to classroom practice. When teacher candidates successfully complete the program they are recommended to the Teacher Regulation Branch of the Ministry of Education to receive a BC Teaching Certificate.
PDP is offered in September and January.
Important PDP Notices
The online application for the September 2015 intake is now available. For the September 2015 intake, applications complete by October 15, 2014 may receive an early decision. Please see our 'Apply to PDP' page for information. Students who do not meet the requirements by the early application deadline are still welcome to apply by the September 2015 regular deadlines.
The deadline for the January 2015 intake online application has now passed. Late applications are not accepted.
Applicants to the January 2015 Intake:
In order to begin classes at SFU, you must also be accepted to SFU Undergraduate Admissions. The deadline to apply to SFU's Spring 2015 semester is September 15, 2014. Late applications to the university will not be accepted.
We strongly encourage all prospective PDP applicants to attend a PDP Information Session prior to applying to the program. Information Sessions are held once a month. If you are unable to attend a session in person, a video is available online on our Information Sessions webpage.
