Do you want to be a teacher?

The Professional Development Program is designed to provide aspiring teachers with the opportunity to gradually explore the intricacies of the teaching profession through extended experiences working alongside practising K-12 teachers in schools and with teacher educators during coursework at Simon Fraser University. In addition to providing students with opportunities to plan and teach in classroom settings, field experiences provide students with exposure to sites of learning beyond the classroom and even outside of traditional school walls. The capstone experience results in student teachers assuming a full teaching timetable toward the end of their practicum placements.

When teacher candidates successfully complete the program they are recommended to the Teacher Regulation Branch of the Ministry of Education to receive a BC Teaching Certificate.
