Become an elementary or secondary school teacher with SFU's highly-regarded Professional Development Program (PDP).

The PDP is a full-time, post-degree teacher education program. The recently enhanced program has four semesters and takes 16 months to complete. Each semester of the PDP combines theory and practice to allow student teachers to explore all the intricacies of the teaching profession.

Throughout the program, student teachers work in small groups called Modules to explore different themes and complete on-campus coursework, field experiences and a full-time teaching practicum. This model provides student teachers with extended opportunities for interaction with their peers and teacher educators and encourages the building of important professional relationships.

Upon successful completion of the program, student teachers are recommended by SFU to the Teacher Regulation Branch of the BC Ministry of Education for a Teaching Certificate. There is also an option to complete a Bachelor of Education (BEd) as a second degree at no additional time or cost.
