Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Education offers a range of programs for studies in all faculties who are interested in learning more about the field of education. Opportunites range from selecting a single course elective to completing one of our many education minors.
Information for students accepted into the Professional Development Program for
The Faculty of Education offers students the opportunity to complete a bachelors degree on campus or online; as a stand alone degree or as a pathway in one of our Teacher Education programs.
Bachelor of Education as a Second Degree
The Bachelor of Education Second Degree allows students who already possess a bachelor's degree and have been admitted to the Professional Development Program (PDP) or the Professional Linking Program (PLP) the unique opportunity to complete a BEd.

Literacy Instruction Certificate Program
Professional Practices Certificate Program
This certificate trains either foreign trained teachers or previously credentialed Canadian teachers by upgrading skills to current practices.
French and Education Certificate Program
This program prepares students, who possess diverse qualifications and background, before they enter the French PDP or during their career as French teachers.
Post Baccalaureate Diplomas
Our Post Baccalaureate Diplomas (PBDs) are popular with teachers wishing to upgrade or specialize. Students can begin their coursework towards a PBD in any semester; however, there are deadlines associated with applying to SFU as an undergraduate student and submitting your program proposal to Undergraduate Studies. Students are normally given five years to complete a PBD at SFU, as it may not be possible to complete a PBD in two or three semesters because not all courses are offered every semester.
