Workers in the Aging City: Eldercare Labour Markets in Vancouver and Shanghai

This project is about the experiences of eldercare workers. Eldercare workers provide home support, community care, and work in residential care homes. Eldercare workers are vital to our healthcare system but also help seniors stay in their homes and out of institutions. Eldercare workers are employed by public health authorities, private healthcare companies, and eldercare employment agencies. We want to find out more about working conditions and everyday challenges facing eldercare workers in Vancouver and Shanghai.

Are you a worker or workers’ advocate? Help us learn about your conditions at work! Take our survey on working in eldercare!

Are you an eldercare worker? Tell us about your experiences to help us raise awareness of challenges in the sector.

This project is a collaboration between the University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University. It is funded by a 5-year Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
