IEEE Technical Advisory Board recognizes engineering science professor emeritus

William (Bill) Almer Gruver, a long-time professor of the School of Engineering Science, was inducted into the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Technical Advisory Board (TAB) Hall of Honor this week. The TAB Hall of Honor recognizes people who have made significant contributions to “the advancement of theory and practice of electrical, electronics, communications and computer engineering, as well as computer science, the allied branches of engineering, and the related arts, sciences, technologies and their application for the benefit of IEEE members worldwide, and for the general public.”

Gruver joined SFU in 1992, researching theory and applications in robotics and manufacturing automation, distributed intelligent systems, control systems, and automation. He retired as professor emeritus in 2006 and passed away in 2016.
