Madeleine Thien wins 2016 Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction

Do Not Say We Have Nothing is a sweeping narrative detailing the Chinese Cultural Revolution and Tiananmen Square protest.  The novel and its writer has multiple connections to SFU: Madeleine studied dance at SFU; the novel was partly written while she was serving as the SFU English department writer in residence; and one of the main characters of the novel is an SFU Professor of mathematics.
