Torsten has taught at universities and colleges in Denmark and Finland. His dissertation was on the emotions in literature from Greek thought to the Renaissance, specifically in relation to Shakespearean drama. His current book project is entitled Shakespeare and Evil, and he is editing Charles Olson's manuscript on Shakespeare. Research interests include: literature and political agency; Tacitus, Machiavelli and early modern dystopian thought; Orwell and Shakespeare.
