Forbes names computing science professor one of five people building our AI future

Angelica Lim, a professor in the School of Computing Science, has been named one of ‘five people building the AI future’ by Forbes. The magazine sought to highlight researchers who are building a more ethical and hopeful vision of society filled with artificial intelligence, highlighting Lim’s work to develop emotional intelligence in robots.

“I'm interested in robots that can interact seamlessly with humans. Robots that can understand speech, gesture and expressions,” says Lim. “Building humanity into our technology means that we can move off the path toward becoming isolated phone drones and back to the social animals we are.”
