The Canada Foundation of Innovation (CFI) has awarded $500,000 to three researchers from the Faculty of Applied Sciences from its John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF). Professors Michael Adachi and Zhenman Fang from the School of Engineering Science, as well as assistant professor Tianzheng Wang from the School of Computing Science are three of five SFU researchers to benefit from the fund, which supports the purchase of foundational infrastructure required to be—or become—leaders in a particular field of cutting-edge research.

The B.C. Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) will double the funding, allowing the researchers to better leverage it to purchase key equipment that will advance their research into flexible biosensors and solar cells, as well as technologies that support data processing and big-data applications.
