SFU researchers develop new method for Alzheimer’s diagnosis
September 25, 2025
Engineering science professor Michael Adachi recently highlighted a new approach for Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, often begins silently. To improve the current methods of detecting Alzheimer’s biomarkers—which are costly, invasive, and time-consuming—Adachi and his team at SFU’s Nanodevice Fabrication Group are developing a small yet highly sensitive sensor that works through a simple blood test. The research team is working to ensure the technology can translate lab discoveries into practical healthcare solutions for everyday clinical use, ultimately benefiting patients and families affected by the disease.
