Why Study Arts and Social Sciences?

A True Interdisciplinary Education

FASS offers a wide variety of programs, many of which complement each other well. You can combine programs in any areas in which you have an interest. Each program will provide you with different perspectives and help you develop skills that will enrich your learning experience and prepare you for a successful career.

Enhance your Education Outside of the Classroom

Bring your knowledge into the working world through a Co-op placement, alternating study terms with terms of paid work related to your major or minor. Attend one of our partner universities through an international exchange, increasing your global awareness while working on your degree. Another option is to apply for a Field School program, where you can travel with an SFU Faculty member and complete SFU courses abroad.

Support along the Way

Our academic advisors will guide you in your program choices, help you plan your degree, and answer any questions that you may have. Our departmental advisors will advise you more specifically about our many program options. The Student Learning Commons can help you enhance your academic skills, and Career Services can support your career planning goals.

Endless Career Opportunities

A university education in Arts and Social Sciences is as much about skill development as it is about content – and employers highly value the skills you develop through your BA degree. Dream big.
