Ascension 2013 is an interdisciplinary performance of new contemporary music and dance, encompassing seven unique works of contemporary dance and live music. Each work is the culmination of ongoing collaboration between student choreographers and composers.
SFU’s second annual evening of live music and dance, Ascension 2013, is a solely student realized and created performance. The performance involves the collaborative efforts of over 50 students, including dancers, lighting designers, technical direction, choreographers, composers, producers and more.
Co-produced by the Dance Student Union and Music Student Union, the two groups have partnered student choreographers and composers to create new contemporary works. These creative teams have been working together since August 2013, choreographing original contemporary dance, set to newly composed pieces of music.
