LEANING INTO LEARNING
An FCAT exchange forum on dynamic teaching practices

FCAT’s Education Consultant, Kathryn Ricketts, FCAT Teaching Fellow, Stuart Poyntz, Experiential Education Project Coordinators, Jennifer McRae and Deanna Rogers, Graduate Liaise and Jeffrey Langille have joined forces to create a day of exchange, inviting us to ‘lean’ into teaching practices that expand the walls of the lecture hall. The forum celebrates practices that bring students into the community, and the community into the classroom.
This day promises to be active, inspirational and relevant to developing and continuing innovative teaching practices taking place throughout FCAT by:
- Featuring robust examples of innovative teaching, showcasing the remarkable work happening across our FCAT units;
- Providing workshops and dialogue sessions from faculty members who are troubling traditional teaching and learning;
- Helping you to find the resources – including methodologies, theoretical frameworks and funding possibilities – to develop more engaged ways of teaching.
The activities will range from the spiky visual form of Pecha Kucha, to interactive workshops demonstrating new teaching practices, to a mobile plenary with participant-generated topics.
