The Faculty of Environment at Simon Fraser University is pleased to invite you to a talk and discussion about the sustainability of forests in BC presented by Herb Hammond, a forest ecologist and forester with Silva Ecosystem Consultants. Ken Lertzman and Evelyn Pinkerton, professors in SFU’s School of Resource and Environmental Management (REM), will respond to the presentation before moderator Sean Markey, REM professor, opens the conversation to the audience.

DEAN OF ENVIRONMENT'S 150 LECTURE: CITY FOR THE BIRDS WITH DR. ROB BUTLER

April 19, 2017 - July 1, 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada and what better way for a bird enthusiast to celebrate than to try to see 150 species within the city limits by that date? This was the challenge ecologist Rob Butler, Chair of the Vancouver International Bird Festival, set for himself as part of something much bigger -  to make Vancouver a bird city. 

WHY SUSTAINABLE FASHION? THE 180 STYLE CHALLENGE

April 21, 2016 - Do you know where your clothes come from? Can you tell the difference between polyester and cotton? What do you do when a piece of clothing falls apart? Ingrid Uhrich has made it her personal challenge to learn more about the counter movement in the fashion industry’s status quo: Sustainable Fashion. This lecture will explore the ups and downs of the challenge and investigate some of the possibilities enfolding some of the answers being discovered.
