Geography student receives Tim Rahilly Award for Service

July 09, 2021

Jonathan Ling, a fourth year Human Geography student, is the successful recipient of the Tim Rahilly Award for Service. This $1000 award recognizes outstanding unpaid service to the university community.

Jonathan has taken on many opportunities to grow a sense of community on campus, currently as Co-chair of the Geography Students Union, and last year supporting a search committee to hire a new Geography lecturer.

Determined to create a memorable experience for himself and his peers, Jonathan has put in many hours with the Faculty of Environment Student Leadership Team and EnvironMentors program. He is happy to be helping students stay connected throughout the pandemic.

“I never saw myself as an awards person, I was definitely surprised” says Jonathan, as the Tim Rahilly is his first university award.

Jonathan recommends all undergraduate students get involved as a way to meet people and gain experience.

Congratulations, Jonathan!
