Biography

Dr. Amanda Ward is the Director of Research, Knowledge Exchange and Evaluation at the First Nations Health Authority, and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia.

Dr. Ward completed her Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University, specializing in genetic pre-disposition to cancer and DNA repair mechanisms. She completed her postdoctoral work in pharmacology at the University of Cambridge, U.K. In more recent years, Dr. Ward’s interests and research have focused on a patient-centered holistic approach to health and wellbeing, including experience in leading cancer care initiatives that supportsurvivors in their wellness journey beyond treatment. In her current position, Dr. Ward and team support community-driven research initiatives that promote Indigenous Ways of Knowing, and work to provide the health authority with the data and information it needs to make informed decisions that will improve and transform health services and programs for First Nations peoples in Canada.
