Biography

Charlie is a biostatistician with interests in evaluating therapies for musculoskeletal conditions. He has recently finished a 5-year term as an endowed Chair in Statistics for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Conditions at the Arthritis Research Canada and was a Professor in Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at SFU and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of British Columbia. He is also an Emeritus Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at McMaster University. He has published over 340 articles and 320 abstracts. He has been an investigator in many clinical trials, and helped develop many outcome measurement tools. He also has interests in helping to develop the careers of new and junior faculty members.
Charlie has his BSc and MSc in Statistics from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, MB and a PhD in Experimental Statistics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute and a member of various statistical societies around the world. He is an editorial board member for six health-related journals. He regularly reviews manuscripts for publication in a variety of Health Sciences, Methodological and Statistical journals.
