Biography

Rob was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After completing his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1987 and doing two years of family practice in Saskatoon, he came to BC in 1990 to begin his residency in public health and preventative medicine at UBC. He was a Medical Health Officer in BC from 1992-2015, working first in the East Kootenay Health Region for three years, then the Fraser Health region for 10 years, and the last decade in Interior Health region based out of Kelowna. Rob joined the FNHA as a Senior Medical Officer in July 2015. His main interests are in communicable disease, immunization, environmental health, risk perception and communication, health promotion and community development. He is married to Jeanne who works as a middle school art teacher, and they have three 20-something children Matthew, Nicola and Aidan finding their way through college and into careers. Rob loves the outdoors in the interior, swimming, hiking, cycling and kayaking any chance he gets.
