Biography

Kate joined FHS in October 2013. She is responsible for providing support to the MPH practicum program, coordinating CEPH Accreditation process for FHS, and developing and implementing an Alumni Engagement Strategy for the MPH program.

Kate has over 20 years of public health experience in the areas of tobacco control, injury prevention and chronic disease risk reduction. Kate began her career as a health planner in Southwestern Ontario. She was responsible for organizing the delivery of the Regional Trauma Services and Diabetes Education Services. In 1997, Kate moved to British Columbia and worked in community health promotion in public health services at Fraser Health Authority and not-for-profit health charities. Kate also worked for 3 years at UBC in health services research in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Continuing Professional Development and Knowledge Translation, and in research grant facilitation in the Department of Physical Therapy.

Throughout her career, Kate has supervised students in various work experience programs and always found it to be very rewarding. Kate enjoys helping students gain the experience they need to solve work-related challenges and achieve their career goals.
Kate has a Master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario.
