Biography
Dr. Nicole Catherine is a University Research Associate in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Nicole is the Scientific Director for the BC Healthy Connections Project, a five-year scientific evaluation of the Nurse-Family Partnership prevention program in British Columbia. Nicole completed a BSc in pharmacology at Dundee University, Scotland, followed by an MSc in nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto. She received her PhD in educational psychology at UBC, studying the neurobiology of social support and child behaviour. Before joining the Children’s Health Policy Centre, she was a CIHR-funded post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology at SFU utilizing advanced modelling techniques in a longitudinal dataset of adolescents at risk for aggression. In addition to her academic training, Dr. Catherine has managed a number of randomized controlled trials of clinical and behavioural interventions.
Research Interests
Dr. Catherine is an interdisciplinary researcher with doctoral and post-doctoral training in neurobiology, developmental psychology and public health and is an experienced leader in clinical and behavioural intervention trials.
Her graduate research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Canadian Institute for Health Research, Human Early Learning Partnership, Child and Family Research Institute and the University of British Columbia
