Procurement

Responsibility for the purchasing of goods and services at Simon Fraser University is primarily the responsibility of Procurement Services.  The overriding objective of Procurement Services is to acquire goods and services in a manner that results in the best overall value to SFU.  The main approach in meeting this goal is the selection of suppliers through a transparent and non-discriminatory practice in compliance with Canada’s competitive bidding laws and trade agreements.

SFU’s Procurement Officers and Senior Buyer are trained professionals with expertise in supply management strategies and Canadian public procurement law.   Each Procurement Officer has been assigned to support a number of SFU’s faculties and departments.  This approach will allow each Procurement Officer to become more familiar with their clients’ unique operations and supply/service requirements, and to become better acquainted with the people they serve.  This will benefit each department and faculty by providing a direct resource in Procurement Services.

Procurement Officers can answer questions on SFU’s policy and procedures for purchasing commercial goods and services.  They provide advice on how to best obtain market information and they work closely with their clients by managing the competitive bidding processes and drafting supply and service contracts.  Click here to find the Procurement Officer assigned to your faculty/department.
