TO: SFU First Nations Studies FNEP Students

[PLEASE NOTE:  We are now accepting SPRING 2017 Graduation Applications.]

Eligible students in First Nations Community Academic Outreach (FNEP/NEP) (including SFU Kamloops Program) completing program requirements in Spring 2017 academic term who wish to graduate and attend the June 2017 SFU Convocation (Burnaby Campus) may apply to graduate.  (If you have completed all requirements during Fall 2016 but did not apply to graduate, you may also apply now to graduate.  Your Convocation ceremony will also be in June 2017.)

Burnaby Convocation Ceremonies

Convocation and Graduation Application

Prior to Convocation, each graduand will be contacted regarding the convocation ceremony. Information on procedures that each graduand is expected to follow in preparation for Convocatoin will also be included.

Be sure to check your SFU Connect (@sfu.ca) email for messages from the University regarding the status of your graduation application and Convocation information.

Graduands are responsible to notify the Burnaby Campus organizers of their attendance at convocation in a timely manner.

Spring 2017 Convocation - Graduation Application Deadline(s):

February 15, 2017: FNEP Deadline for FNEP Students to apply and pay for graduation on the Student Information System for students who are completing degree requirements in the Spring 2017 academic term. (A non-refundable late fee for each degree, certificate and diploma may be assessed after this date.) Students completing requirements in previous terms and who have not applied to graduate yet and wish to graduate at the end of Spring 2017 must apply for graduation by this date. 

FNEP Community Academic Outreach Students (SFU Kamloops Program Students):
Please submit your application to graduate by February 15, 2017.  If you missed February's deadline, please apply by April 11 - only if a late application is unavoidable. To ensure timely processing of your graduation application, please submit your graduation applicaton application by mid-February.

April 11, 2017: This is the FINAL application deadline for Spring 2017 graduation.

The application fee is charged upon receipt of your graduation application. Students completing requirements in in previous terms and who have not applied to graduate yet and wish to graduate at the end of April 2017 must apply for graduation by the deadline.
FNEP Students: Your early application deadline will be February 15, 2107. (A non-refundable late fee for each degree, certificate and diploma may be assessed after February 17, 2017.)

Kamloops Program/NEP/FNEP Students: If you have been a Kamloops Program student or has NEPNSA noted in your advising transcript, please ensure you contact the Academic Advisor in First Nations Studies for information related to your graduation application.

FNEP Graduation Application: Please download the above form, complete and return it to First Nations Studies (fax 778.782.4989).

Other Information:

  • January 4, 2017: Deadline to cancel application to graduate in June 2017 convocation if you have completed degree requirements in Fall 2016.
  • September 4, 2016: Deadline to cancel application to graduate in October 2016 convocation if you have completed degree requirements in Summer 2016.

FEES: A fee of $35 is required to apply for graduation for a degree, and a fee of $20 is required to apply for graduation for a certificate or a diploma.  If you missed the early FNEP graduation application period (to mid-November), the application (late) fee will apply. It will be $85 for a degree; and $70 for a certificate or a diploma credential.
