Vlad Vintila holds an MA from the University of Virginia and a PhD from Columbia University, both in Italian (BA in English and German from Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania).
Between 2000-2010, he served as Italian instructor at the University of Virginia, and taught in the Italian Department and in the Core Curriculum–Literature Humanities Program at Columbia University.
He was Assistant Professor of Italian at Temple University in Philadelphia from 2010 to 2014 before relocating to Vancouver.
At SFU he is a Limited Term Lecturer in Italian and History, as well as an Academic Advisor in Archaeology.
His scholarly interests include foreign language acquisition and pedagogy, as well as the Italian literature of the Middle Ages and the early modern period (Dante, Boccaccio, Ariosto), the enduring relevance of classical sources for Italian literature and culture and identity construction.
