Appointment Priority and Criteria for Hiring Teaching Assistants for Italian courses

 

Teaching Assistants will be hired in the Department of French in accordance with the priority provisions of Article XIII, F, of the Collective Agreement between the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University and the Teaching Support Staff Union, May 1, 2001-April 30, 2004.

In addition to the above-noted priority provisions, the Department of French will also take into consideration the following criteria, which are listed in no particular order, in assessing the qualifications of applicants for TA positions for Italian language courses:

  • Qualified applicants must possess a high level of proficiency in oral and written Italian and English
  • Qualified applicants must possess an in-depth knowledge of Italian grammar and Italian sound pattersn, as well as appropriate pedagogical skills to teach Italian, both oral and written

In assigning qualified Teaching Assistants to courses, the Department will also take into account:

  • Overall qualifications for specific courses at each level
  • Instructor requests
  • Applicants' availability

 

Teaching Assistants will be re-hired in accordance with Article XIII, H of the Collective Agreement between the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University and the Teaching Support Staff Union, May 1, 2001-April 30, 2004.
