Metrotown Centre opened in 1986, and Metropolis at Metrotown opened in 1989 (back then it was known as Eaton Centre Metrotown).
After its opening, Metropolis at Metrotown expanded several times to include:

- The largest food court in Western Canada, seating more than 1,000 people
