SUMMARY
Even with a number of shortcomings within the analysis, seven cities and a number of different locations have been identified for possible locations of new highland dance studios in the Lower Mainland. By considering the results from each analysis, the identified cities each result in a different specific combination of studio types. The table below identifies those cities and their particular studio type.
City Type of Studio
Abbotsford Non-competitive (small or large)
Delta Non-competitive (small)
Langley Competitive (large)
Mission Small
North Vancouver Competitive
Port Coquitlam Competitive (small)
Surrey Non-competitive (large)
As a young teacher looking to start my own studio, I would like to start out with a small studio while I am still at university and getting into a career. Therefore, for my given situation, the most appropriate location to begin a highland dance studio is Port Coquitlam. This would allow me to have a reasonably small studio, but with a strong competitive base. Since I was a highly competitive dancer myself, these characteristics would be important to me.
