Background Research

Over the past five years, the population of Vancouver Island Coast has
grown by more than 10%. In Victoria alone, the tourism industry employs 30,000 people and generates around $750 million in annual revenue. Eco-tourism is the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry. It attracts people's desire for a taste of unspoiled natural experience as well as getting away from the urban jungle of everyday life. Visitors of Vancouver Island can enjoy many activities such as: bird watching, wildlife watching, walking a cathedral forest, going sport fishing, ocean kayaking, or scuba diving.

The goal of my project is to find a potential location for a summer getaway resort. This will enable tourist to live with the wilderness and enjoy the natural landscape. If possible, I would like to locate the resort in a place that has existing natural sporting facilities. With this resort, I hope people will be motivated to conserve the environment and to appreciate the natural landscape craft out by Mother Nature.

This happens most often during the summer. Vancouver Island is known to be a famous tourist site, not only for people from Hong Kong but from all over the world. What features make Vancouver Island such an attractive place for tourist?
