Methodology/Spatial Analysis

Once I had obtained all of my data (as described under 'Data Collection'), I was then able to organize and plan the methodological steps for my project. The steps are as follows.

Analysis 1: (Factors in terms of ROADS)

Because my project is to determine a summer resort in a remote area, my first constraint is to determine area that is quiet and peaceful. By overlaying the main road (m_road) and the highway (isldhwy), I have all the busy roads together. The next step I took is to create a three kilometers buffer around both the overlay road (roadfuz) and hydro lines (roadfuz) so that quiet atmospheres is guarantee for the resort.
Initially all the files use for the analysis #1 is are vector format in IDRISI. LINERAS function is use to convert the files into raster. After that, Distance function is used to create a continuous legend so that I can perform the fuzzy operation later on.
Overlaying the two fuzzy files creates final resulting image.
Final Image: "Away From Hydroline and Main Road"

Analysis #2:  (Constrain in terms BikeTrials)

This is a simple analysis to determine areas that have both road bike trails and mountain bike trails. This is done by convert (MTBIKE) and (RDBIKE) into raster format by using LINERAS function. After I create a three kilometers buffer to give it breathing space. Lastly, I overlay the two buffered image using "OVERLAY First + Second" to get the final result.
Final Result: Area that are close to Mountains Trial

Analysis #3: (Constrain in terms of Government and Landuse Policy)
This section is split into three different image to get a better understanding of the steps.

Image #3.1:
This is to determine where can a resort be build in terms of crown or private land and Land use constrain. I use assign function to assign (1) to government and (0) to private land in (CROWNPRI). I also use (FINALCORE) land use map to assign 3 and 10 (1). This assign results in areas that are of multiple resource use for the land. Overlaying the policy image and the landuse image together creates final image #1.
The result: "Multiple Resource"

Image #3.2:
This map is a map under the consideration of an area that is quiet and private. We want area with low to med tourist activities so that the people at the resort can have the most getaway time from the city. This also put into the consideration of the nature surrounding forest. This will allow the tourist not only have the quiet of the private area but also the nature surrounding trees. This will allow the visitor of the resort to enjoy the maximum get away from city feelings.
The result: "Low Tourism"

Image #3.3
The final result is creating by overlaying first * second of image #3.1 and #3.2. I choose to use * instead of + with the overlay because this will open my option.
The Final Result of Analysis #3: "Area suitable for a Site"

Analysis #4
This is the most complex of the all the maps. Once again it is made up of three images.

Image #4.1 (Factors concerning active sports)
I use a very systematic routine for three images: Canoearea, seakayakingarea, and scubadivingarea (CANOEING, KAYAKSE, SCUBADE) to perform this analysis. All three images are initially from the web, and are convert into IDRISI in vector format. I use LINERAS to convert the files into raster format so that I can analysis them. From that I use the distance function so that I can get a continuous scale so that I can perform more complex analysis later on. From CANOEDIS I further analysis them using fuzzy logic. After that I use the Weight function to give different weight to each sport according to its preference. I give canoeing the greatest weight becuase most public will go canoeing, when not every single person will go scuba diving or sea kayaking. When I applied weight on all three fuzzy, I use WLC to join all three active sport into one final sport out come.
Resulting Images: "Ideal summer Inn"

Image #4.2 (Factors concerning leisure sport)
The method use for this image is similar to image #4.1 but I did not have to use Weight or WLC because there are only two criteria instead of three. Again, I use a very systematic routine for the two images (HUNTING) and (BIRDWATCH). These image are initially download on the web and are converted into IDRISI in vector format, I use LINERAS to convert the files into raster format so that I can analysis them. From that I use the distance function so that I can get a continuous scale. After that I use the buffer function to create a buffer of three kilometers, so that it can open my option of the location for my resort. From the distance analysis I further analysis them using fuzzy logic.
Resulting Image: "All natural Sport"

Image #4.3
The final result I overlay First * Second the image 'Ideal Summer Inn' and 'Nature sport' image to get a final image of all area with suitable sports
Final Resulting Image: "Area of all Sport"
