7.1 Service Area and Service Network
- This portion of the results satisfies objective #1 which is to identify
the service area and service network for Firehall #5 whether it is the
existing, proposed, or the alternative proposal site.
- The Service Area for the Existing Firehall #5 has the largest area.
Then from Alternative Proposal Firehall to the Proposed Firehall they progress
to less areas.
| Service Area | Service Network | |
| Existing Firehall #5 | 6.09 x 10^16 square meters | 6.78 x 10^9 meters |
| Proposed Firehall #5 | 5.14 x 10^16 square meters | 6.33 x 10^9 meters |
| Alternative Proposal Firehall #5 | 5.21 x 10^16 square meters | 5.66 x 10^9 meters |
7.2 Shortest Route
- This portion of the results satisfies objective #3 which is to identify
the shortest route and how long it takes from Firehall #5 whether it is
the existing, proposed, or the alternative proposal site, to schools with
high density namely Alpha and Burnaby North Secondary.
- The Existing Firehall #5 services Alpha Secondary the fastest by
having Fire trucks reach there in 36 seconds. The Alternative Proposal
Firehall #5 services Burnaby North Secondary the fastest by having Fire
trucks reach there in 49 seconds.
| Time it takes to reach Alpha Secondary | Time it takes to reach Burnaby North Secondary | |
| Existing Firehall #5 | 36 seconds | 2 minutes |
| Proposed Firehall #5 | 1 minute 16 seconds | 2 minutes 40 seconds |
| Alternative Proposal Firehall #5 | 1 minute 12 seconds | 49 seconds |
7.3 Particular Schools serviced for each Service Area
- This portion of the results satisfies objective #2 which is to identify
particular schools that can be responded to efficiently which fall within
the service area for each type of Firehall #5
- The Service Area for the alternative proposal Firehall #5 services
the most schools. The Service Area for the existing and proposed
firehall #5 both service 4 schools.
| Service Area for Existing Firehall | Service Area for Proposed Firehall | Service Area for alternative Firehall | School | Student Population |
| * | * | Gilmore Elementary | 437 | |

7.4 Total Student Population serviced for each Service
Area
- This portion of the results provides further information in order
to answer objective #4 which is to identify the optimal relocation for
Firehall #5 by considering the amount of schools within its service area
and the density of student population for the schools as well as the response
time to these high density student populated schools.
- The Service Area for the Alternative Proposal Firehall #5 services
the most students which amounts to 4485. Whereas the Service Area for the
Existing Firehall services 2055 students and the Proposed Firehall services
1182 students.
| Total Student Population | |
| Service Area for Existing Firehall #5 | 2055 |
| Service Area for Proposed Firehall #5 | 1182 |
| Service Area for Alternative Proposal Firehall #5 | 4485 |
- It is diffcult to identify the optimal relocation for Firehall #5. The results of the analysis suggest that the Alternative Proposal Site is most suitable. Although this site services the most population, services the most schools, reaches the school with the largest student population the fastest, there are inherent errors that are introduced.
