ArcGIS
assigns a value of zero to blank DBF fields, causing huge spikes with data since
they are being compared to a base value of zero. The map below was created this
way in ArcScene.

In order to get around this, wells that have no litho or do not contain the particular layer class being interpolated would have to be deleted. This would mean manually deleting wells for each layer and having separate tables for each layer. This was not done for a number of reasons, firstly that this would be a manual task that would be very time consuming and tedious, and thus prone to human error. Also, Idrisi works much better with surfaces as it is a raster environment, and offers a wider range of interpolation options.
Interpolation therefore was not performed in ArcGIS, its main utility in the program was its visualization functionality in ArcScene.
