Rachel Forbes - BA Geography (Honours)

Rachel graduated from SFU in 2004 with a BA (Hons) in Geography, minor in Communications and a Certificate in Urban Studies. She completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2008 with a focus on Environmental and Aboriginal Law at the University of Victoria.

During Rachel’s time at SFU she volunteered for a variety of initiatives including the Sustainable Campus Coalition, Burnaby Mountain Development Working Group, and Sustainable SFU (now Embark). She also volunteered as the elected student representative on the SFU Community Trust Board of Directors before working for the Trust as a planning assistant leading community art, affordable housing, daycare and stormwater management initiatives the year after she graduated.

Rachel lived, worked, volunteered and worked out on campus for the majority of 1999-2005 and so she has too many favourite memories to narrow it down to one! She did especially love the beautiful views, the fog (even though it blocked the views), working at Higher Grounds and the Highland Pub, her experience during the Semester in Dialogue and all things geography.

Rachel worked at various organizations as a lawyer, including West Coast Environmental Law Association (2011-13), Lidstone & Company Law Corporation (2009-11), Ratcliff & Company (2008-9), and the Environmental Law Centre at UVic (2007-8)

In 2013, Rachel founded Sharp Six, a professional services firm that adds capacity to community driven organizations by providing governance management and workshops, strategic planning, project coordination, and grant/proposal development services. Sharp Six also includes Sharp Solutions, a microlending program.

Rachel is currently the Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Society of Greater Vancouver.  NEED TO CONFIRM THIS (from linkedin)
