Laura Alvarez's award by National Science Foundation

April 04, 2018

The National Science Foundation awarded Dr. Laura Alvarez with the NSF Earth Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship to study: "The Mechanics of Turbulence and Sediment Transport: Physically-Based Numerical Modeling of Flow, Sediment and Bed Evolution in the Bedrock Canyons". The proposed work aims to make substantial contributions to our capability to numerically predict the physical phenomena that control the sediment transport and the morphodynamics of river systems.

During the time of her NSF fellowship, she will be affiliated to the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University and will collaborate with the School of Meteorology at University of Oklahoma. Dr. Alvarez will receive $174K for two years.
