Canadian Association of Geographers Award

This award is presented annually to the top Geography student in the graduating class at each Canadian university.

This year's recipient, Nathan Zemp, is graduating with a BA in Human Geography (First Class with Distinction) and a Certificate in Geographic Information Science. Nathan will begin an SFU Master's in Resource Management (Planning) degree this fall, under the supervision of Dr. Mark Jaccard. For his thesis project, Nathan plans to quantify the effect of single-family zoning on housing prices in Metro Vancouver. Nathan has been awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada grant for this research.

After completing his graduate studies, Nathan intends to work as an urban planner in one of the Metro Vancouver municipalities, and potentially advise senior levels of government on housing policy.
