Canadian Association of Geographers Award
This award is presented annually to the top Geography student in the graduating class at each Canadian university.
This year's recipient, Gabrielle Wong, is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Environment (Honours) majoring in Human Geography with a minor in Social Data Analytics and a Certificate in Urban Studies.
She enriched her studies through three co-operative work term placements, four research assistant positions, and an honours project about the political and economic factors that influence endangered species recovery, supervised by Dr. Rosemary Collard. Gabrielle enjoyed co-chairing the Geography Student Union from 2022-2025 and leading the first two iterations of the union’s student conference, RANGE. She also supported students as a welcome leader, mentor, tutor and peer educator. Outside of school, she finds joy in creative pursuits, including music, crocheting and cardmaking.
In the fall, Gabrielle will begin graduate studies at the University of Toronto. She will be working towards an MA in Geography, supervised by Dr. Michael Ekers. For the summer, Gabrielle looks forward to spending time with friends, resting, and preparing for the move!
