I have a 3-year BA in Psychology (1979), a 4-year BA in English Literature (1987) (both from Trent University) and a Masters in Library and Information Studies (1999) from the University of British Columbia. In my capacity as the GRC Information Officer (a position I have held since the 6th of November, 2000) I am responsible for: managing the GRC Information Centre which includes the Imperial Oil Gerontology Research Collection; maintaining the Centre's archives; managing the GRC, Department, and Living Lab websites; assembling, editing and overseeing the production and distribution of the GRC News and Seniors' Housing Update newsletters; assembling and editing the GRC Annual Report; editing and overseeing the production of Centre publications such as the Fact Book on Aging in British Columbia FOURTH EDITION as well as being a co-author of the FIFTH EDITION; co-administrating the SFU Library Gerontology collection acquisitions budget; co-ordinating the design and production of our new GRC logo, brochure, and conference display; as well as providing library orientation and reference service to frustrated Centre researchers and panicked Graduate students. One of my articles for the GRC News ("Strength training: A natural prescription for staying healthy and fit") has been reproduced in the ERIC database (ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) is the world's largest digital library of education literature administrated by the U.S. Department of Education and is the main research database in the field of education). To relax, my recreational activities include: reading a variety of literature ranging from the fantasy works of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett to texts on history from ancient Greece to the Second World War; weightlifting; and exploring the West Coast with my wife of 29 years in our black, convertible, Mustang.
