The Surrey Pride Society is participating in a 50 city day of awareness of the 50th Anniversary of the decriminalization of homosexuality in Canada. In June of 1969 Bill C-150 received Royal assent that was the preliminary action that led to decriminalization.

Surrey is hosting this event at SFU Surrey on the mezzanine (2nd floor) of the Surrey Campus. The Pride and Trans flags will be on display as will some of the Canadian LGBTQ+ history. We have guest speakers which will include Cpl Elenore Sturko of the RCMP.

We will also have lapel pins available for purchase marking both the 50th Canadian Anniversary and the 20th Anniversary of Surrey Pride – June 29th 2019.

The event will be held May 14, 2019 from noon and we invite everyone to join us as we kick of the 50th Anniversary of the decriminalization and Surrey Pride’s 20th Anniversary.
