Women’s Agency, Economic Security and Micro-Credit in Bangladesh

Join us on Friday, October 23rd for a deeper perspective into the lives of Bangladeshi
women and their struggle for economic independence.

The program will start with a talk entitled "Micro-credit: Transforming Gender Relations
in Rural Bangladesh," by Dr. Habiba Zaman, Professor of Gender,
Sexuality, and Women's Studies, SFU.

There will also be a screening of a short documentary film "Greening Micro Finance,"
(2014) co-directed by M.S. Rony & Emdad Haque, Natural Resources Institute,
University of Manitoba. This will be followed by a short performative presentation by
Arno Kamolika based on excerpts from Shyama, a dance drama by Tagore.

This event is organized by Dr. Sanzida Habib, one of CISAR’s
Research Associates, and is open to the public, FREE of charge.
