Research Assistantships
From time to time GSWS has Research Assistantships available in connection with the Ruth Wynn Woodward Professor. The hourly pay and number of hours per week varies.
Teaching Assistantships
Normally Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies requires two teaching assistants for GSWS 100, GSWS 101, and GSWS 102 in either the Fall and/or Spring. One tutor marker is required each semester.
The Graduate Program Committee in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies is responsible for Teaching Assistant and Tutor Marker appointments. Whenever the number of applicants who have priority for appointment, as defined in the TSSU/SFU Collective Agreement, exceeds the number of positions available in a given semester, the Committee may take into account any or all of the following factors in making appointments:
-- Suitability for a particular courses
-- Requests from instructors
-- Amount of financial support, other than accumulated
-- Progress toward the degree base units, already received
-- Level of academic achievement
-- Financial need
-- Applicants' preferences
-- Accumulated T.A. ratings on course evaluation forms and by instructors
