For the inaugural year of the Student Health Advocacy Committee, the SHAC team worked on a photovoice project that used photographs and journal entries to explore the ways in which the university environment may impact student health and wellbeing.

Based on “A Practical Guide to Photovoice: Sharing Pictures, Telling Stories and Changing Communities” the health promotion team at Health and Counselling Services worked with SHAC volunteers to explore barriers and supports to student health and well-being on campus. Students used photographs to visually represent their own unique campus experiences of well-being on campus.

The idea behind Photovoice is that the volunteers are able to help others ‘see’ the world through their eyes.
