For the 2012-2013 academic year, Student Health Advocacy Committee (SHAC) focused on exploring ways to improve social connectedness on campus, and in particular the impact of physical spaces on student connectedness. In January, 2013 the SHAC team sought feedback from students at SFU's Burnaby campus on a scheduled renovation in the South Academic Quadrangle (AQ).

Student comments and suggestion were incorporated into the renovations, which are now complete. The space creates a welcoming, effective gathering space for students and is a great example of a space that supports well-being.
