Research is an essential
component of the mission of Simon Fraser University
and constitutes a major instructional activity
as well, for faculty work closely with graduate
and undergraduate students in a wide variety of
research settings, including Library, laboratories,
computer facilities and studios. Research collaborations
reach out far beyond our campuses to include many
projects conducted jointly with business and industry,
community organizations and agencies in all levels
of government.

During its brief history, Simon Fraser University has developed an extensive
array of disciplines and interdisciplinary studies. Research is conducted within
departments, through inter-departmental research groups, and in an unusual
cluster of centres and institutes with specific research interests and needs.
