2011 Staff Work Performance Award

James Peltier (CIO Network Support Group)

James is described by faculty and graduate students as a passionate individual who consistently goes over and above the call of duty and one of the “most hard-working, enthusiastic, accessible, and technically competent information technology professionals” supporting teaching and research computer systems used by several departments in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. He formed a community of researchers at SFU by linking them together via shared resources.  His unique vision has been to almost single-handedly create an environment called the Colony cluster, in which many different laboratories share resources and benefit individually as a result.

He often “moves around in his kick scooter; virally spreading his cheerful enthusiasm to others and helping them in their research by solving a myriad of technical issues”.
