The Compensation Team is pleased to share SFU has now fully implemented the Hay Job Evaluation methodology for Excluded and APSA positions and completed the JE Project. This milestone is significant, the project began in 2018 and is a cornerstone of total compensation. All existing job descriptions have been evaluated using Hay, giving us a solid foundation on which to build, a foundation based on standardized, clearly outlined factors to measure work and improved processes to mitigate bias and guide us in assigning ratings to positions, not people. Although the Hay methodology is now fully integrated, it may take time for leaders and employees to feel comfortable working in this new environment. Moving forward, leaders with organization and job design needs will be supported by their new HR Business Partners, who will provide the best HR solutions for their needs. The Compensation Team will move onto the development and implementation of “Compensation 2.0 – Job Evaluation” which aims to  improve the user experience for our leaders and staff including more agility and continued improvement in turnaround times; provide more information on total compensation; and ensure our job descriptions are free from unconscious bias.
