Prerequisites:

16 units in upper-division humanities courses (or permission of the department).
This course is restricted to major and joint-major students in humanities only.
Grading will be on a pass/fail basis.

NB: To register for HUM 495, you need to fill out the attached form and submit it to Christine Prisland. Once the form has been completed and approved by the course instructor, students will be enrolled in the class. On-line registration for this course is not available.

 

Course Description:

In this course we shall examine Charles Taylor's theory of modernity, with particular reference to his recent work A Secular Age.

This is a required course for a Humanities major/joint major/minor or extended minor program.
Note: Though the University will be open, all classes will be cancelled during the Olympics (February 15-26, 2010).
