Assignment Specifics

1. Online Participation & Class Participation

You are expected to actively participating in the online discussion using the webX chat.

During face to face class you are expected to participate by coming to class an getting involved in class discussion, including proposal critiques and final events.

 

2. Team Proposal

The class is expected to be very involved in evaluating and picking the project it executes for the last 10 weeks of the course. Your Team will research the current proposals suggested in the 1st class and online and evaluate them. You are expected to report back as a team on week2 with a short (5 minute max) presentation to the class on your ideas on what project we should undertake and why. Use the following as criteria:

  1. What are 3D immersive worlds good for.
  2. What can we achieve with our class experience, timeframe and resources.
  3. What proposal would best benefit the class (portfolio piece for graduates, great experience, knowledge building, ...)
  4. What project would be true to the course, the field of immersive environments and be best for society.

3. Team Work

As we break up into our main working teams typically

- the 3d team,
- the 2d team,
- the web team,
- the writers team.

You are expected to work with your team to create a project proposal, schedule, and implement it for the final event. Your team is expected to work well with the other teams, supplying work and info in a timely manner. Click on the past work to see what is a typical class concieved project. Also click on the project websites to get a detailed picture of what we achieved in past classes. There is only 1 project that we all work on, so we typically will pick team leaders, a producer, a director, a press person and other roles which cange year to year based on the chosen project. Your team will produce several reports specifing roles, schedule, accepted milestones, ,,, which cuminate in an end of project report.

 

4. Individual Event Work

Besides your work in the team you will be expected to volunteer for an individual event based assignment for the event. Depending on the event you might to be a tour guide, play an actor, archive the event with a web cam, document, raise the curtain, talk to the press, ....
