Test regulations/Candidate malpractice

The IELTS Test Centre candidates are expected to adhere to test regulations, and violations of these will not be tolerated.

Impersonation: Identification checks are made at Registration on Testing Day, and throughout the test. If an individual is suspected of impersonating a candidate, that individual will not be allowed to write the test.

Non-permitted supplies or equipment: Cell phones, audio or visual recording devices, digital watches and large watches of any kind, dictionaries, other books, bags and any other similar equipment are not permitted in the test room. Any individual found to be provided with such equipment will not be permitted to complete the test.

This list also includes wallets, purses, laptops, cosmetics, etc. The Test Centre asks that you kindly leave your valuables at home rather than bring them to the Test Centre. There is a secure storage area where these items must be checked in. The Test Centre is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated during testing. Candidates who attempt to view the papers of other candidates, or disturb other candidates in any way, will be given one warning. A second warning will result in withdrawal of the test paper. The candidate will not be permitted to complete the test.

Failing to hand in test papers: Candidates are required to turn in all test papers. Any candidate who attempts to keep a test paper will not be permitted to complete the test.

In all cases of malpractice, evidence of the offence will be provided by trained test invigilators. Where malpractice has taken place no test refund or results will be issued.
