Is the site secure?
You may notice that this site is not a secure site. Don't panic.
When you are asked to log in, you are directed to an ACS log-in page which is secure.
Once ACS has authorized your CCN and password, you are brought back to the Creative Services imagelib system bringing with you a 'ticket'. This ticket allows us to connect to the ACS server and
it tells us the CCN ID you logged in as. The Creative Services is at no time given your password.
Once we verify with ACS who you are, you are allowed to use our service with increased capacity. You have more user options, your purchase history is saved, and you are allowed to make purchases
Since our site is not secure, it is theoretically possible that someone may be able to view what you are doing, but the chances of this are slim. There is no possibility that they can get access to your CCN password due to this insecurity. Potentially it is possible that they are able to see what you see, and potentially gain access to your purchase history. This remote possibility is no cause for alarm as most anyone interested in your purchase history will likely just ask you for a copy that you have downloaded when they see you in person, and not bother to do this incredibly complicated and illegal hack for such little gain.
Any illegal attempt to use your account would exhibit the following symptoms:
- Difficulty connecting to the server
- You make a request for one page, and a different page shows up
- You are asked to authenticate multiple times
if you experience more than one of these symptoms, please contact creative-web@sfu.ca
