Was it difficult — yes! Were there times when you asked yourself — why on earth are you doing this? Yes! Was it worth it — absolutely!!

One of the best decisions I made was applying to the Liberal and Business Studies program at SFU. I didn’t attend university first time around — I walked into a profession I liked and stayed there for years. But it always niggled, not having my degree. Then I found Liberal and Business Studies - a program that was going to allow me to achieve my goal whilst continuing work.

Great fellow students — a varied group, the lecturers were excellent. I think that they enjoyed teaching a group of people who had made the choice to return to education i.e. the program participants were engaged and interested, and it led to some fascinating discussions.

Where I am now —taking my Master of Urban Studies at SFU. I have also recently been awarded a SSHRC Bombardier Scholarship. I’m really enjoying myself, and the new level of discussion and debate.

I have made some good and some ‘not so good’ decisions in the past — completing the LBS program was definitely one of the best.
